Symbolism of People I'm Close to

Many of my friends wear symbols of their faith.  Some wear crosses to show their Christianity. Some wear the Star of David to represent their faith in Judism.  Every faith has a symbol and that represents what they believe.  It shows that have a commitment to their faith and to what they believe is G-d.  My friends tell me that wearing things of that nature gives them strength.  They can feel it and hold it when they feel like they need a boost or some comfort.  I have one friend is Jewish and he has his symbol of his faith tattooed on his leg.  It is fabulous artwork and it there for all to admire.  It also sometimes brings conversation and sometimes it brings negativity. For him it represents more the culture and heritiage of his culture of his where his faith comes from.  It's an interesting way to celebrate his faith.  Is this something you do as well?  I would like to hear about it.

  1. Excellent post Jeannemarie, it is true people cherish symbols in different ways it is equally true that many cultures have a strong connection to their faith and display it as so deem. I like the way you keep an open mind and analytical sense in culture.I wear a peace sign that has the words inscribe peace , love and hope and that says it all..

  2. I know what you mean, there is a symbol even for friendship or family. My brother and his best friend both have a tattoo on their arm exact the same thing to prove their friendship, and that is a symbol that they use to recognize that friendship.

  3. I never really thought of it this way. I never really realized that wearing a cross is a symbol of faith that they are representing. I used to have a best friend half heart necklace and my other friend had the other half and I guess that was a symbol of our friendship.
