A protagonist is the main character in a story, whether they are good or bad. They are the character that everyone else in the story is speaking about and they are the focus of what is going on.
An antagonist is the character or characters that are different and who "egg" on or bully the protagonist.
I guess that we have to think of the protagonist as the main character of the story, like you said good or bad, it will always be who the story talks more about. That shouldn't be so hard, because every story has to have a protagonist.
